The book is in Good+ shape. Spine is in very good shape. Boards are straight and clean. Hinges are in Good+ shape with the front hinge just starting to crack. The rear hinge in is Very Good shape, with no cracking. The pages are clean. No underwriting, or markings. The upper right corner of the first 60 pages have a small crease from turning the page. The corners are bumped corners and there is rubbing to cover board edges, and lower and upper spine area. Lots of maps. The Nile River Valley map has a tear near the fold (clean break, with no loss of paper). 87 pages of Appendices (pp. 431--518).

On the inside front cover board, there is a private bookplate for Alfred Baldwin MP for Bewdley and Worcestershire (1892--1908), who was the father of Stanley Baldwin Prime Minister (May 1923--January 1924; November 1924--June 1929; June 1935--May 1937). In thick penciling, is an inscription that reads: "From the Library of Stanley Baldwin Prime Minister," followed by 12/6 (which I assume is the price). I cannot authenticate if this book came from Baldwin's library.
