The 1922 Scania Post Bus is a die-cast replica crafted by Matchbox Collectibles for The Trolleys, Trams & Buses European Transit Collection. The 1922 Scania Post Bus is a registered issue of this collection - produced by and available exclusively from Matchbox Collectibles.
In the 1890s, an English cycle manufacturer set up shop in Malmö, Sweden. In 1900, the company was re-named Scania Maskinenfabbrik AB. Eleven years later, this company merged with Vagnafabriks Aktiebolaget i Södertaälje to form Scania- Vabis Aktiebolaget. By 1912, the company began producing 20 hp chain-driven pas- senger vehicles and, the following year, launched full production of 1.5 to 6 ton models. In the 1920s, long before Scania-Vabis merged with the Saab group, the company began producing a newly designed series of passenger vehicles made more stable by the patent progressive spring combined with a double-reduction axle and low-loading chassis. At the same time, Scania-Vabis developed the first all weather post bus for the Swedish Post Office for use on long runs. Now, a bus of that colorful era has been recaptured in all its glory by Matchbox Collectibles.
