This charming collection of stories are written in fairytale form with the aim to gather together important historical events and present them to children in a fun and informative manner. Jelf has written-in the character of Eileen as a bystander to many significant events, including the commencement of the War of Independence, the tribulations of Michel Angelo, the story of Titania the Fairy Queen, the rule of King Henry VIII and many more.

Wonderfully illustrated with sixteen plates and a frontispiece. Collated, complete.
