A pictorial review of the unprecedented events which led up to the Red Revolt on the Witwatersrand.
During a period of economic depression following World War One, mining companies were faced with rising costs and a fall in the price of gold. In February 1922, negotiations with the South African Industrial Federation broke down when the Action Group seized control and set up barricades.
This work presents the development from mob violence to open revolution.
CONDITION
In the original green paper binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the extremities. Front board has come away from staple but binding is still firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. A fold has been made through the middle of the work.
