During the Great Depression, the company diversified its product line to include items like the Roll Rite cigarette roller, poultry waterers, and hygrometers, all based on patented Johnson designs. The Roll Rite cigarette roller was one of the innovative products that helped the company navigate through the economic challenges of that era
The Johnson Manufacturing Company later shifted its focus to the trucking industry around 1939, designing and manufacturing air and vacuum reservoirs for brake systems. The company’s historical significance is commemorated with a historical marker in Urbana, Ohio.
