The Cullinan Vl-Vlll Pendant Brooch
The Cullinan Diamond was the largest diamond ever found at just over 3100 carats. When it was cut the major stones numbered l to Vlll but there were many smaller stones not named. The largest stone Cullinan l is in the royal sceptre and the Cullinan ll is n the State Crown. Stones lll to Vlll have been used to make three Royal Brooches. We have replicated all of these.
This is the Vl-Vlll brooch, the marquise-cut pendant stone- Cullinan VI - weighs 11.5 metric carats and was purchased by King Edward VII for Queen Alexandra in 1908. It was inherited by Queen Mary in 1925 and since then has generally been worn as a pendant to Cullinan VIII, an emerald-cut diamond of 6.8 metric carats.
