A very rare late Victorian desk sterling silver pen rest and trinket stand of rectangular form with sunken body and with circular ‘wells’ at the either end.
The ‘wells’ have George lll Cartwheel Two Pence ( 2 Penny ) copper coins set to the centre.
This desk Pen rest and trinket stand is a very handsome and unusual piece combined with wonderful quality, as you would expect from Andrew Barrett & Sons who operated in there retail & workshop premises at 63 / 64 Piccadilly, London.
Made with a heavy gauge of sterling silver, estimated silver weight would be approximately 200 grams and the remaining weight being the 2 copper coins.
Fully Hallmarked on the interior of the pen stand, hallmarks are rubbed, however still recognisable.
