French Azilum, located in Pennsylvania, is a site steeped in rich and intriguing history. Established in 1793, it was intended as a safe haven for French émigrés fleeing the violence and upheaval of the French Revolution. Many of these émigrés were aristocrats or members of the upper classes who supported the monarchy, seeking refuge from the Reign of Terror that followed the revolution.
