Vintage 1930-1940 Cast Iron Lodge Skillet  #8

Embossed Mold Mark u

Single Notch Heat Ring

Beautiful Skillet with Very Smooth Interior

This vintage Lodge skillet is especially nice with smooth cooking surface. The single notch on the heat ring dates it as being made between 1930 and 1940. All single notch skillets have mold marks. The earliest ones, first generation, had incised mold marks. This one has a raised mold mark (u), so I am guessing that it is 2nd generation. I don't know when 2nd generation started but it ended by 1940. Some of the skillets of this era had embossed numbers on the handle. Others were incised on the back. The types of numbers have nothing to do with age. This skillet has an incised 8, which looks to me to be hand drawn. (Information here is from an online chart Dating Lodge Skillets.)
