A stunning vintage skirt suit from the early 1950s! This suit leaves me breathless-it’s no doubt from a high end manufacturer or designer, but alas the only label that remains is a small “Reine Wolle” label inside jacket.
Beautifully tailored skirt suit in nicely weighted wool with an interesting horizontal slubbed stripe/rib. Longer length jacket is fitted through waist and hip, long cuffed sleeves are cut in one, underarms are gusseted. Wide cuffed pocket at each hip. Notched Persian lamb collar and concave button front. Fully lined in a coppery brown taffeta.
Pencil skirt with extra deep 5” hem, and kick pleat in rear. Closes at side waist with unique metal coil “Haga” brand zipper and button. Unlined.
Suit is very well made; lining is tightly stitched to hem of jacket, seams inside of skirt are finished with taffeta trim. Kick pleat is an additional 4” wide fold from waist to hem on inside and hem is extra deep.
Good condition, wear showing to lining in both underarms, and a few small pin holes here and there. Skirt has some small moth nibbles scattered throughout, but there is more than enough fabric to repair them with. Replacement button is sewn inside of jacket. Some bald spots on fur collar.
