Complete 6 volume set of the Dante Inferno illustrated by Gustave Dore. This is the Henry Irving edition published by Cassell in London in 1904, limited to 1000 sets, this is set # 956. Two volumes each for Vision of Hell, Purgatory and Paradise. The books measure 10.5 in. by 13.5 in. with a total of 120 full-page gravure plates by Dore. The boards have moderate wear, with a stain on one front cover and a stain on one page ends. There are a few loose pages, and some small tears to few ofthe tissue paper that covers the illustrations.
