Bocote is a hard, dense, and fairly oily tropical wood that is highly prized for its dramatic, wild striping. These dark brown or black streaks, which sometimes form in concentric circles, give Bocote its defining look and lend finished products a truly distinctive appearance. 

As a world renowned artisan, I was able to form this fine writing instrument through a painstaking process that involved several hours and stages in order to present a finely polished work of art. The blank was measured and drilled before inserting a brass tube. It was then trued on each end before being placed on my Rikon midi-lathe for the shaping using various chisels. When the desired shape was achieved I then took it through a multi-stage sanding process finishing with nine steps of micro-mesh, followed by multiple coats of Aussie Oil resulting in a glass like finish.
