This is a roughed-out wood blank for making a Mathews standard style wood Right Hand compound bow (Note: the grip is held in the Left hand for a Right Hand bow) grip. It is precisely fitted to a Mathews standard riser, so the hard part is all done for you. It slides right on to the Mathews riser. A Mathews riser is shown in the photo for reference, the bow is not included in the auction of course. This is not a finished grip, it is a roughed-out block which already slides right onto the bow riser but still needs to be shaped, customized and sanded to your specifications.
Mathews models it fits include RH models Drenalin, Switchback, Outback, Creed, Reezen, Legacy, Z7, DXT, Monster, Classic, Ovation, Icon, SQ2, MQ32, ZMax, MQ1, and many others.
If you've ever wanted to make your own wooden bow grip, this is a great way to do it. The precise fitting to the Mathews bow riser is all done, all you need to do to finish the grip is to shape and sand the grip to your exact hand specifications and preferences. Most people use random orbital sanders or sandpaper flap wheels to shape the grip, but you can do it with any wood shaping tools. An example of similar finished grips is shown in the auction photos.
You can apply any finish that you wish to the grip after shaping, many shooters use a final polyurethane or oil finish.
Personally I don't enjoy shooting using aluminum, rubber, or plastic bow grips, they just don't give the enjoyment and warmth of a real wood grip. So I started making them for myself and friends. This grip slides right onto your standard Mathews compound bow riser (grip is pictured mounted on a Mathews Drenalin) and secures easily with just some double sided tape (or many pros alternatively use a bead of 3M Weatherstrip sealant). The Mathews bow riser is shown as an illustration of the look of the riser grip area.
