Perry Ellis's iconic Sonia Delaunay collection from Fall 1984 was a singular salute to Sonia Delaunay –the Russian-French abstract artist whose Art Deco paintings and designs Perry Ellis admired greatly. For Delaunay, color was primary, and her use of its intensity and hue was as essential to her as the balance of shape and form to a still-life painter.

This sweater is truly a marvel. Much attention was paid to its design, and it features a gobsmackingly complicated pattern that was entirely knit by hand. It's crafted from warm, Scottish wool that Perry has specifically imported from Scottish sheep farms and he lovingly referred to it as "sheep sh*t wool" because it arrived so authentically fresh from the animal.

Boxy, androgynous fit that can be worn by either gender. It's perfect for the winter. For women, I love it styled over a skirt, but it also looks brilliant tied around the shoulders.
