To replace the pre-motor filter:
1. Remove the dust cup.
2. Remove the filter frame from the top of the motor base.
3. Remove the foam filter from the filter frame.
4. Turn the filter frame upside down and carefully pull out the felt filter
5. Replace the felt and foam filter in the XFF36 kit you just purchased
6. Insert the foam filter into the top of the filter frame. When replacing a felt filter, make sure that the felt portion of the filter is facing outwards.
7. Reinstall the filter frame to the motor base and replace the dust cup.
8. After every 3-4 vacuum uses, remove the foam and felt filters and rinse thoroughly with warm water until the water is clear.
Do not put the filter in the washing machine or dishwasher.
NOTE: The material in the filter will discolor over time. This is normal and does not affect filter performance.
9. Squeeze out excess water and allow to air dry for at least 24 hours before replacing. Do not use a hair dryer or other heat to dry.
10. Put the filter back in place after 100% dry. Follow steps 4 to 7

1. Remove the filter cover from the front of the vacuum by pulling up on the tab and pulling the cover away from the vacuum.
2. Take out the filter by pulling it straight out. Replace it with the filter have a notch on the top.
3. Replace the cover by inserting the two tabs into the holes at the bottom and then swinging the cover up until it clicks into place.
4. After every 3-4 vacuum uses, take out the filter, turn it over so that the dirty side is on the bottom and vigorously tap it clean against a garbage can to remove any dust.
5. Wash the filter under the tap using lukewarm water with the dirty side face down until the water runs clear.
DO NOT put the filter in the washing machine or dishwasher.
