This listing is for the vintage porcelain figure or statue of Hotei that you see in the photos. I purchased it at an estate sale in Oregon where I was not told its history. I do not know when it was made. I am guessing that it is old enough to be considered vintage and that it is Kutani ware. I wonder if it is Satsuma. There is an impressed mark on the bottom. I leave it to the buyer to decide how old it is and where it was made.

My research tells me that in Japanese mythology, Hotei is one of the Seven Gods of Luck. He represents good fortune.

It measures close to 8 1/2 inches high and weighs close to 2 pounds 12 ounces.

The condition is much like you see it in the photos. It is in excellent condition. I do not see any chips or cracks or other damage. My photos should give you a good idea of its general condition. There might be a very minor scratch or two that I have overlooked.

I guarantee this statue to be as described and represented by the 9 photos after the general description. The photos are part of the description. Please look at all of them.

   Please know that the lighting in my photos is uneven and that there might be shadows or reflections. The colors on my monitor look close to but not exactly like the actual colors. Different monitors may show different colors. I often say that an item measures or weighs “close to” because in my opinion no measurements are exact and some things are difficult to measure.

I frequently purchase signature delivery for my more valuable packages because of the possibility of them being stolen off of a porch or damaged by weather.
