Design Description The Portland Mavericks were a legendary independent minor league baseball team that captured hearts in the 1970s as the only fully unaffiliated club in organized baseball at the time. Founded in 1973 by Hollywood actor Bing Russell (father of Kurt Russell, who played second base during the inaugural season), the team filled the void left when the Portland Beavers departed for Spokane. Operating in the Northwest League as a scrappy, no-rules outfit of castoffs, ex-major leaguers (like pitcher Jim Bouton), and open-tryout dreamers, the Mavericks embraced a rebellious spirit—hiring groundbreaking staff like the first female and Asian-American general manager in pro baseball. They quickly became a sensation, drawing huge crowds with their fun-loving antics while posting strong records (including division titles and playoff runs in four of five seasons, culminating in a 44-22 mark in 1977). Featured in the acclaimed 2014 documentary, "The Battered Bastards of Baseball," the Mavericks folded after 1977 when the Pacific Coast League returned to Portland. Product Details Like all our designs, this one is treated with our signature 'relic-ing' process which includes our own secret recipe of hand-painted chipping, cracking, fading, and just the right touch of yellowing to ensure that it looks the part of a true vintage imprint.** We lay these works of art down on super soft Gildan 18500 hoodies via state of the art direct to garment (DTG) printing which allows us to create a vintage effect that simply can't be accomplished with other printing methods. We recommend taking one of your current t-shirts, laying it flat and measuring it. The measurements in the chart below are taken with the shirt laying on a flat surface. To get the length, measure from the high shoulder point down to the bottom of the shirt. To get the width, measure approximately 1-inch below the armhole, across the chest, from seam to seam. While our hoodies are made using premium, preshrunk cotton/poly blends, there can be some slight shrinkage depending on your personal wash and dry cycles. With that said, if you're on the fence or just want to be able to layer over various shirts, we always suggest going up a size as hoodies are meant to be a little on the big side 😎 All sizes are provided in inches! Please note that variations in sizing of up to 1.5 inches are possible.

Measurements presented in size charts are based on manufacturer provided specifications. As garments are handmade and of natural materials, variations in sizing can occur. Manufacturing tolerances allow for up to 1" (one inch) of variance from the posted measurements up or down. In the event that the measurements are off more than 1" from the size chart, we will gladly replace the item at no charge. For those with 1" or less, we can simply exchange the item for another in the same size or a different size of your choosing.
