Sylvia Penther: A twentieth century Austrian painter and original printmaker, best known for her depictions of historical costumes. These original hand-colored linocuts originate from a series of nine works entitled, "Mode Wien" (Vienna Fashion) "1820 - 1860".

One is a woman with extremely puffy sleeves. She has on a blue shawl, pretty hat and bouffant skirt. The second print is a couple, very chic costumes for both.

The original hand-colored linocuts were colored by the artist herself which indicates that the edition was probably small in number. Printed on fine silk and with full margins as created by the artist around the above date. Titled and signed by the artist, Sylvia Penther in pencil along the lower margin.

The prints are approximately 4 x 5 inches in 9 1/2 x 10 frames with mat and glass. They date from the 1920s - 30s. Penther died in 1975.
