HANDMADE CLOISONNE STORY WITH OUR HAIDA NATIVE ART.

The earliest cloisonne art originated in Central Asia but was developed and refined to its

most extraordinary sophistication in Imperial China. The intricate technique of cloisonne

manufacture begins with attaching a ribbon of metal wire, in various patterns onto a metal

base thus creating "cloisonne or cells. In this case, the metal is copper.

Several mixtures of differently colored enamel are pulverized and mixed with water to form a

paste. The paste - one color at a time is brushed into the appropriate "cloisonn and then fired

in a kiln to temperatures of 850 degrees Celsius, The latter process fuses the enamel to the

base surface and develops the transparency, luster, and permanency of the color

. After firing the enamel and wire are closely joined in a smooth, even surface displaying

colored patterns defined by the wire partitions which prevent the various enamel colors from

fusing together.

The article is lightly ground and polished by hand. Much contemporary cloisonne is

manufactured by machine. The uniformity in color, wire design, and thicker wire ribbons is

apparent upon scrutiny. Note that the color and wire design of each of these cloisonne

articles is different and the wire is thin. These are the properties of authenticity. handmade

Look what we have found. Over 20 years ago a long time distributor of custom fashion jewelry closed there shop for good. We are not sure as to why? We were offered the entire stock. Ma was not happy when I told her that I was bringing home 30 large containers of fashion jewelry, but she put on a happy face (as Ma always does) and helped me pack it all in. We had family coming from all over to stay and help us out in going through the inventory and re-boxing it up to offer to you...The CUSTOMERS that have been so good to us over the years. The prices marked on the items were also over 20 years old. We decided to discount them from their original price. What a value we have for you.

Semi precious stones are all hand carved locally in Canada and not only that, all the Jewelry has been made in the USA or Canada, so you know its quality and beautiful. We are including First Nation designed jewelry, hand crafted for the Canada National Museum. Oh I almost forgot, we also have left over stock from the Egyptian tour that came thru Canada years back.
