The Kukryniksy tried to convey, as convincingly and
accurately as possible, the state of the fascists who understood their
inevitable end at the moment when a volley of Soviet guns rang out over their
heads, which crushed, destroyed the appearance of comfort established in the
shelter, the illusion of the possibility of salvation, making it clear to feel
the whole reality of what was happening.
This volley made the possessed Fuhrer jump out of his
personal bunker. His pitiful figure with convulsive movements, his face
distorted by fear, is sharply torn by light from the gaping blackness of the
doorway.
A frightened Goebbels is barely visible behind him. In
the room where the Fuhrer's bodyguards are sitting, no one thinks about him,
here no one cares, everything here speaks of the inglorious end of the
fascists.
