The Shore Road Mystery; Hardy Boys # 6, 1959 print (pre-revision), no DJ.

The Shore Road Mystery is the sixth book in the Hardy Boys mystery series. This is a copy of the 1959 printing -- dated by referencing the title list in the front matter. (The last item in the title list is The Mystery of the Chinese Junk, which was published in 1959.)

The Shore Road Mystery was revised and re-published in 1964 as part of a project by the Stratemeyer Syndicate to eliminate dated references in Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew texts. Thus, any copy printed in or after 1964 has a significantly different (and greatly simplified) story. If you are a Hardy Boys purist or completist, finding a copy of the original text is a must. This copy is a late printing of that original story.

The book itself is in complete and readable condition with some important flaws. The dust jacket is not present. The exterior tan cloth boards show significant wear, including blunted corners, some loss of surface material on the front around the title, separation at the spine, and general wear.

The front endpapers are in good condition excepting an owner's name written (in very small letters) on the outside front ep. There are various notations among the front matter, such as underlining of titles in the title list to indicate which ones the owner has purchased or read. None of this interferes with the readability or integrity of the book. Otherwise, the interior is clean and unmarked. The binding is intact and secure. The pages are bright and off-white in color. Aside from the flaws noted, this is a very solid copy of the book.

All books are individually evaluated and photos are of the actual book.
