The Greater Poems of Virgil, Vol. I; edited by J.B. Greenough and J.L. Kittredge; 1895, Ginn & Company publishers.

In Latin.

This edition of The Greater Poems of Virgil, Vol. I, features the first six books of The Aenid. In Latin. With framing and discussion and lots of guide material in English. I have searched and can not find information on how Ginn & Company do copyright page coding. There is a numeric code on the copyright page that reads "39.1" - I do not know what this means in terms of printing order or edition (although this is clearly not the first edition of the text, as it has an introduction discussing changes to the new edition.)

This is a well-used ex library copy. It is intact and complete with many and systematic flaws, including most notably:
- A set of pages at the front of the book that are separating from the binding, with the threads hanging fairly loose. They're still connected but are literally hanging by a thread (or maybe like six threads).
- The usual library markings and detritus, including a "Date Due" card and the word "Discard" in magic marker
- Plenty of notation throughout the front matter and then periodically through the book
- The cover wrap is cloth and leather; the leather portion is damaged at the top around and near the spine
- The cloth is worn through most of the way around the edges of both covers
- Some separation of the binding through to the webbing at a few places

I've included a lot of photos; they should give you a sense of the book.

That said, the book is in serviceable reader/research condition. The gilt lettering on the leather spine still pops, so it will show well on your bookshelf. The gilt edging on the top of the page block is also solid. Most of the book is fully intact - it is only the front ~30 pages that are in the process of detaching. Handled gently, it's a very good copy.
