LITTLE LEGENDS - GWR 48xx/14xx and de Havilland Tiger Moth by Lee Lacey AGAvA

The now preserved 48xx / 14xx, 4866 is seen in charge of an autotrain working while an RAF de Havilland Tiger Moth elementary trainer comes in to land.

4866, now part of the Great Western Society at Didcot, was built in 1936 and is one of 95 engines built to replace the somewhat similar '517' class of locomotives. She would work from Newton  Abbot most of her working life and be bought by the GWS for preservation in 1964.

The de Havilland Tiger Moth entered service with the RAF in 1932 and was to serve well into the 1950s, becoming a very successful aircraft on the civil register also.

It can be said with great sincerity that both these wonderful machines are indeed 'Little Legends'
