In 1987, the US Postal Service issue this 50-stamp series to celebrate America’s variety of wildlife.  Chuck Ripper drew all the designs and pictured the animals in their natural habitats.  All geographic areas of the US were included including Alaska and Hawaii. This stamp features the Canada Goose, a bird common to almost all of North America.

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 2334.
