DESCRIPTION

Portraits of Illustrious Personages of Great Britain by Edmund Lodge in half morocco bindings. 

Engraved from authentic pictures in the galleries of the nobility and the public collections of the country. 

With biographical and historical memoirs of their lives and actions. 

Complete in twelve volumes. Illustrated with two hundred and forty monochrome plates, twenty to each volume. Collated, complete.

The plate of Mary Sidney in Volume III is detached. 

Ink inscription to the first free endpapers from 1838 and two book plates to the pastedowns.

CONDITION

In half morocco bindings. Externally, smart. There is some wear to the heads and tails of the spines and to the extremities. There is some rubbing to the leather in these areas. The spines are faded. There is some slight loss to the leather in some areas. Ink inscription to the first free endpapers from 1838 and two book plates to the pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. The plate of Mary Sidney in Volume III is detached. The pages are bright and clean with the occasional spot.
