DESCRIPTION

First edition of The Folly of Pen Harrington by Julian Sturgis in Root & Son signed half calf binding with cloth boards. 

A scarce edition with only ten held in libraries. Also published in the same year by D. Appleton & Co. in New York. 

Sturgis was a British-American novelist who spent his life in Britain as a novelist, poet, and footballer, being the first foreigner to play in and win an FA Cup Final.

Prior owner's book plate to the front pastedown.


CONDITION

In Root & Son signed half calf binding and cloth boards. Externally, very smart. There is some minor rubbing to the extremities. Prior owner's book plate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. The pages are bright and clean with the odd spot and light age toning.
