SKELLIG

written by DAVID ALMOND

INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR "TO JOAN / DAVID ALMOND" on half title page.

BONUS ITERMS: PROMOTIONAL INTRODUCTION TO AUTHOR FROM PUBLISHER (4 PAGES) + BOXED REVIEW + INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR.

This was the launch of David Almond's writing career in the USA, which proved to be very successful! I received the promotional materials and had the opportunity to meet David in my capacity as children's book buyer for the Booksmith in San Francisco. I loved the book upon reading & was very excited to meet the author.

BONUS MATERIALS:

1.) Promotional materials from publisher dated in June 1999 includes:

 a form letter from the publisher, Craig Virden, saying that SKELLIG won the prestigious 1998 WHITBREAD CHILDREN'S BOOK OF THE YEAR IN THE UK;

a sheet with five glowing blurbs;

a copy of a "Flying Starts" article from Publishers Weekly magazine dated June 28, 1999;

a copy of the NYTBR review by Perri Klass dated June 6, 1999.

The other two items are things I saved:

2.) a boxed review from Publishers Weekly dated December 7, 1998;

3.) an interview with David Almond from Pages magazine dated May / June 2001.                                                This latter piece talks about the phenomenal success of SKELLIG - it also won the 1998 CARNEGIE MEDAL - the UK equivalent of the Newberry Medal.

{SPOILER - the Skellig is a creature that combines elements of a human, an owl and an angel.}

I am happy to combine shipping to save my buyers money. Books can easily be combined and pack well together. Media mail is a very affordable rate offered by the USPS. Cost is based solely on weight and does not vary with distance. If buying multiple books, please put them in your cart and then "request total from seller". I will then send you an invoice with an adjusted shipping cost.

However, I have been told that if you are ordering from a phone, it may not be possible to request such a total. If that is your situation, please go ahead and pay the shipping as billed. Then, when I process your order, I will calculate the difference between shipping paid versus actual cost, and refund you any difference.

Thanks for looking!
