Today we're offering a charming pottery jug pitcher made by the Wheeling Pottery Co. of Wheeling, W. Virginia (USA), circa 1879-1923. It is unmarked.
The clay is white with a very pale yellow, creamy all-over glaze. The rust-colored irises and green foliage are raised giving this piece depth. The painting is crude and somewhat messy which adds to the charm.
It's approx. 8" tall by 5" in diameter at the base.
There are a couple of rim chips as pictured, more like glaze scuffing. They are not cracking and pose no threat. There is crazing of course. Please examine the pictures to determine condition.
