About these stamps: In 1995, the USPS issued this series of stamps featuring Antique Automobiles as a tribute to the US automakers inventiveness. Included in these designs are the gasoline powered 1893 Duryea, the 1894 Haynes, and the 1899 Winton. The 1898 Columbia was an electric motorcar and the 1901 White was steam-propelled.
A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Numbers 3023a.
