More about these stamps: Continuing the Legends of American Music series in 1998 the US Postal Service issued these four stamps to honor Legendary Gospel Singers.  These great ladies were: Clara Ward, Sister Rosetta, Mahalia Jackson, and Roberta Martin.

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847. Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Number 3219a.
