The phoenix is a sacred firebird said to have beautiful feathers of gold and red. Its story has roots in many ancient civilizations- most notably the Egyptian and Greek. After 1,000 years the phoenix builds itself a nest of twigs, which then burns fiercely until they are both, reduced to ashes. From the ashes a young phoenix appears, renewing the life cycle of the bird and making the phoenix virtually immortal and invincible. This pen captures the story in detail, from the flames bursting at the tip, to the rising phoenix; it's tail rendered in the clip. Amber crystals on the clip and cap add to the majesty of this regal creature. Features a smooth writing Parker® style refill. The rustic, authentic look of this antique brass pairs beautifully with my custom resin blank. We have taken quality solid brass components with brass plating and chemically darkened it to simulate aged brass, which results in a gorgeous, long lasting brown plating with golden undertones.

As a world renowned artisan, I was able to form this fine writing instrument through a painstaking process that involved several hours and stages in order to present a finely polished work of art. The blank was measured and drilled before inserting a brass tube. It was then trued on each end before being placed on my Rikon midi-lathe for the shaping using various chisels. When the desired shape was achieved I then took it through a multi-stage sanding process finishing with nine steps of micro-mesh, followed by a three step polishing White Diamond Polish resulting in a glass like finish.
