Signed by both the author on the title page and also by the craftsman in charge of the binding on a Certification of First Edition. There are 6 lithographic plates of maps that have been copied from the original documents and have been approved by the United States National Historical Publications and Records Commission. Loosely inserted within the book is the Certificate of First Edition, signed by Richard Poe (in charge of the binding) and dated October 17, 1975. The title page is signed by Louis Gottschalk and stamped with the copy number AH705.
