About these stamps:  In 1980, the USPS issued this booklet of small stamps featuring windmills. Shown are windmills from Virginia (1720), Rhode Island (1790), Massachusetts (1793), Illinois (1860), and Texas (1890),

 

A bit more history: The United States Post Office issued its first stamp on July 1, 1847.  Since that time, over 5000 stamps have been released. Each stamp is given its own identification number called a Scott Number. These stamps have been designated as Scott Numbers 1742a.
