Composition
Lyonel Feininger
1914
In this early abstract work, Lyonel Feininger distills architectural forms into bold, angular geometry. Created in 1914, Composition demonstrates his move toward modernist reduction—evoking towers, spires, and city rhythms in black line on textured paper. As one of the original Bauhaus masters, Feininger pioneered a visual language that blended Cubism, Expressionism, and Gothic structure into a uniquely modern voice.
