Art Deco Clock Set ~ Elephants

~ French - Circa 1925 ~

~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~

A beautiful and high quality Art Deco clock set featuring two elephants standing beside the clock. The case is formed of stunning specimen marbles in the cubist manner, the highly prized black and gold Portoro marble contrasting with the exquisitely figured pink, orange and red marble. Elephants are well modelled in pewter coloured metal. Two conforming cubist side pieces complete the set.

The dial is of high quality with a heavy gilded bezel with beveled glass enclosing a matted gold dial with Art Deco lettering and blued steel hands.

The French movement is a traditional 'Pendule de Paris' movement with a pendulum and is of high quality. It is by the Parisian maker Silvin and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is a replacement. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video below to hear the bell and watch the clock running.

Condition of the case is excellent, the marble has a lovely polish, there are some minor nibbles to the marble mostly along the bottom edges and corners. The is a small patch of lost polish to the top of one side piece. The dial is excellent with some re-touching to the lettering and some light marks, mostly between the '7' and '8'. Elephants are also very good with just some light wear to the original finish.

About us  - All of our clocks are original antiques, we source most of our clocks in  France, Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. We prefer to buy our clocks in  original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have  developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul  the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they  will run trouble free.

Duty and Taxes - Most countries do not charge import duty on antiques. Some countries charge sales tax. For USA this will be collected by ebay. For UK VAT is included in the price and we pay that for you. For Australia there is sales tax, it will be collected by the courier. All other countries please check your customs website for details. Sadly we have no control over your countries tax regime!

International Shipping is no problem - fully insured

We use a premium courier such as UPS, DHL etc or a dedicated/specialist  antiques courier.
