DESCRIPTION

The first edition. Complete in two volumes.

Handsomely bound in the publisher's full cloth binding with gilt detail.

Illustrated throughout with a frontispiece in both volumes, numerous plates, two maps in volume one and one folding map in volume two. Collated complete.

A lovely work regarding the architecture of Southern France, and its influence from the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans. Written from the author's personal journey through the country.

Theodore Andrea Cook was a British art critic and writer who travelled extensively throughout Europe, documenting the art and architecture.

The half title pages are present.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear to the edges. Spines are slightly darkened. Marks to the rear board of volume two. Internally, binding slightly strained towards the centre but still firm. Pages lightly age-toned to the edges but otherwise very bright and clean with only the odd handling mark. A small closed tear and the odd spot to the folding map in volume two.

Overall Condition: Very Good Indeed
