A 19^th century unfinished graphite sketch depicting Venus and the death of Adonis.  The central elements of the image are mostly complete (Venus, Adonis, dog, Eros, and winged putto).  The surrounding elements were left unfinished.  Still a remarkable sketch with much appeal.  Overall dimensions of the piece are 23” x 16”.  Some diffuse staining and professionally restored areas.
