This beautiful textile is an antique hand-woven hemp and wool blanket. This stunning blanket was woven by hand in the Carpathian Mountain Region of Europe about 100-120 years ago.~ These blankets are rare and wonderful, with a beautiful natural texture and look! ~*~ This blanket uses a complex weave and is woven using both linen (heavy hemp) and natural wool from goats. The colors are: pale natural hemp, and black and red dyed wool. The woven wool stripes appear on both sides. ~*~ This blanket was constructed by first hand weaving the 2 lengths, which were then hand stitched together in a very primitive hand stitched seam down the middle. The ends are hand stitched with a hem. CONDITION : This blanket is in as found condition. We recommend dry cleaning this blanket if you choose to wash, as the red dye will bleed in a home washing machine. There are perhaps some voids in the wool and some thread loss there as well. Some of the small threads of the wool are broken or puckered in some spots. One or two pale marks that may or may not wash fully. The linen is in wonderful condition--a truly authentic, rustic textile! Beautiful condition for it's age! ~*~
