~*~ This textile is an antique French apron, designed to be worn over a skirt to protect the woman's clothing. This skirt is a gorgeous black wool with a lovely brown pinstripe. Dating to the early 1800s, this apron would have been worn as the woman went about her daily work; going to the market, tending to the garden, cooking and cleaning in the house, all manner of things. This kept her good skirts clean from dirt and debris through the day, while also providing two HUGE pockets to store things in! This skirt is in fantastic shape and would be amazing for design inspiration or even for wear. Perhaps a great piece for reenactment! ~*~ ~*~ ~*~
MEASUREMENTS : This textile measures approximately 27 inches at the waist (not including ties), and 36 inches long.
CONDITION : This piece is in as found, not freshly laundered condition. This apron is in gorgeous condition, there is truly no apparent damage that I can see. Because of the nature of the wool of this skirt, things like dust and fuzzies tend to cling to it so it may need a good lint rolling when it gets to you but that's no problem!
