Antique 16^th century hand colored map showing the City of Damascus.  “Damascus, Urbs Nobilissima ad Libanum Totius Syriae Metropolis,” from the work Civitates Orbis Terrarum, published in Cologne (1572-90).  Georg Braun (1541-1622, Canon of Cologne Cathedral) and Frans Hogenberg (1540-1590, engraver).  The bird’s eye view image shows monuments and localities within the city and is an important record of the 16^th century metropolis.  The piece is professionally matted and framed and measures approximately 25 ½” x 22”.  A very rare and desirable piece ready to hang on the wall.
