Playful cherry print vest by Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis from the infamous 1993 S/S ready-to-wear collection that resulted in Marc Jacobs (29 at the time) being fired from Perry Ellis.
This exact vest was featured on the runway in look #61 in the grape print, but it was produced in very small quantities in the pear and cherry prints. Model Meghan Douglas was also styled in the same print on the runway in other looks.
This is the grunge iteration of the Victorian Waistcoat –a silhouette that Marc Jacobs would turn to again and again throughout his career (most notably in Spring 2014 of his namesake label). The vest has a v-neckline and a cropped fit, ending just under the chest. It closes with five black buttons and there are two very small waist pockets.
This looks great layered over a little black dress, or under a blazer. It can also be styled by itself as a top when fully buttoned.
Very good vintage condition, no major signs of wear or damage.
