This is Bernard Venables' guide to the angling waters of south-east England. The first half of the book consists of essays written and beautifully illustrated, in colour and in black and white, by Bernard Venables about fishing the waters of the region. The latter half of the book includes many full-page maps compiled and drawn by W.J.A. and H.E. Busby from the Ordnance Survey and from additional information supplied by numerous angling clubs and individuals. All of the waters mentioned are marked on the maps.
A good book, much more than a simple gazetteer, that though not particularly scarce is well-thought-of and quite hard to find with a dust-wrapper of any condition.
The title-page states the title as "Guide to Angling Waters" whilst the dust-wrapper is titled "Guide to Angling Waters South East England", the upper board is titled "Bernard Venables Guide to Angling Waters South-East England."
Contents include:- Introduction; South-East river systems - The Thames; The Great Ouse and the streams of Suffolk; The Hampshire Avon; Sussex waters; Kentish waters; Key to section maps; Maps "A" to "Z"; Index; Alphabetical index.
