SHOE LACE AGLETS
These clear, transparent aglets (shoelace ends) are perfect for making your own shoe laces, shortening laces or repairing laces that have lost their tips. They can be used on laces of any shape, colour or pattern and are very easy to attach. The end of the lace (or ribbon) is inserted into the aglet, which has an inbuilt shrinking action when heat is applied, and they will typically shrink down to about half their initial diameter. Hair straighteners, a naked flame or boiling water are all viable heat applications to shrink them although more information will be sent with your order. The aglets are available in the following (unshrunk) diameters:- 6.4 mm - reducing to approx 3.2 mm when shrunk
- 4.8 mm - reducing to approx 2.4 mm when shrunk
- 3.2 mm - reducing to approx 1.6 mm when shrunk
- 2.4 mm - reducing to approx 1.2 mm when shrunk
One aglet is typically 20 mm long although unless you advise us to the contrary, your order will be dispatched in a single length based on the ordered quantity multiplied by 20 mm. This will minimize wastage by enabling you to cut the aglet to the exact size you require as laces differ greatly in actual aglet length. Please note that the stated diameter sizes are the internal measurement. If you have not previously used this type of aglet, we can offer the following advice by way of guidance:- The 2.4 mm aglets are typically suitable for very narrow laces
- The 3.2 mm aglets are typically suitable for the majority of other laces including round, oval and some flat laces
- The 4.8 mm aglets are typically suitable for broader flat laces, most ribbons and thicker, medium duty laces
- The 6.4 mm aglets are typically suitable for thick ribbons and heavy duty laces
