Potassium chloride - E508   Food Grade,   Heat and acid stable

Potassium chloride is a common, naturally occurring mineral.

Uses of potassium chloride in foods are as: a flavor enhancer, flavoring agent, nutrient supplement, pH control agent, stabilizer, thickener and gelling promoter.

However, potassium chloride is generally used for two main purposes in food products:

 -    The first is to provide potassium enrichment to foods,

 -    The second is as a salt replacer to reduce the sodium content in foods.

Our Food grade potassium chloride has a salty taste and does not develop a bitter or metallic aftertaste as it contains no thermally or acid degradable ingredient such as:

- Magnesium carbonate (MgCO3)

- Sodium ferrocyanide ( Na4Fe(CN)6)

Because of this, its taste does not change during standard food processing such as cooking, baking, roasting or mixing with acidic ingredients.

For gelling our High Gelstrength Kappa Carrageenan @ 0.4%, : use 0.12 % KCL

Hint for vegan cheese makers:

If your recipe includes Kappa carrageenan :
Replacing the sodium chloride (sea salt) by Potassium chloride will produce a much firmer cheese, with less sodium.
