DESCRIPTION

A collection of the works of Horace, here in the original Latin.

Including a life of Horace.

'Odes' is a collection of four books of lyric poems by Horace.

The original Latin books were published in 23 BC and 13 BC.

The odes are written in an imitation of the short lyrical poems written by the original Greek poets, Sappho, Pindar, and Alcaeus. The poems cover a range of subjects, including religion, wine, patriotism, love, friendship, and morality.

Horace was a Roman lyric poet and satirist, who worked under the emperor Augustus. He is best known for this collection.
