This is a lovely book of children's song and play, which contains a range of songs that are 'intended to be played with strict regard to the stage directions'.
These songs were meant to be performed for an audience on-stage, and includes contents such as 'King Alfred and the Cakes', 'The Battle of Crecy', 'Queen Elizabeth and Raleigh', and 'Royal Oak'. Each section has a range of songs which includes the musical notation, which may be read and played with accompanying instruments, as well as lyrics.
Written by Evelyn Beale (1870-1944). Beale was a writer, illustrator, and sculptor, who achieved a high degree of popularity within Scotland for her work.
With institutional stamps to the occasional page belonging to the Tabernacle Infants Day School.
