DESCRIPTION

A thoroughly fascinating work on the travels, experiences, and career of Ottoman former Governor of the Egyptian Province of Equatoria from 1888 to 1889. 

The second edition of this work. 

Written by Arthur Mounteney-Jephson, an English merchant seaman who travelled with Pasha during these years. 

Also including a foreword by Henry M. Stanley. 

Containing an engraved frontispiece, twenty-one further engraved plates, a folding map, a folding facsimile letter penned by Pasha, and numerous other in-text illustrations. Collated and complete. 


CONDITION

In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, some general shelf wear and bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Internally, hinges have been reinforced. Front endpapers, frontispiece, title page, and dedication page have been adhered to one another to the gutter. Binding is generally firm throughout. A few small instances of light spotting and handling marks, but most pages are bright and clean.
