The work of French physicist Alphonse Berget, this is an informative and detailed celebration of nineteenth and twentieth century advancements in aviation, remarked upon as 'a new conquest of man'. In the smart original quarter morocco binding and cloth covered boards.

With over 700 vignette and full plate illustrations selected by Lucien Rudaux, the French artist and astronomer who created paintings of space in the 1920s and 1930s. Including nine colour plates and eight colour maps. Collated, complete.


CONDITION

In the publisher's original quarter morocco binding, with paper covered boards, and gilt detailing. Externally, smart. Head of front joint starting, with board holding firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with instances of spotting throughout. Spotting most concentrated to plate perimeters.
