DESCRIPTION

The third edition of this work.

Incomplete in one volume, lacking the second volume.

A fascinating travel work documenting a journey on foot through Russia and Siberia. From this journey the author earned the nickname 'Pedestrian Traveller'.

Illustrated with a chromo-lithograph frontispiece, two folding plates, and one plate.

Written by Captain John Dundas Cochrane, a Scottish officer in the Royal Navy and explorer. He crossed France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, Russia, and Asia to Kamchatka on foot.


CONDITION

In a full cloth binding. Externally, generally smart. Minor marks to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. A little discolouration to the spine. A small amount of cockling to the boards and spine. Small cracks to the joints. Bound without rear endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with the odd spot. Caption of the frontispiece is a little cropped, not affecting image. Folding map with a small closed tear to the gutter, with a small tape repair.
