Written by Johann Kaspar Lavater, the noted Swis poet and physiognomist.
This work of physiognomy from the mid-19th century. Physiognomy is the practice of evaluating a person based upon physical and facial features, popular in the 19th century.
Illustrated with 7 plates. Collated complete.
With the previous owners ink inscription to the front endpaper, it reads 'Mr. G. Smith.'
CONDITION
In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and also to the extremities. Light fading to the spine. Small tears to the cloth to both the head and tail of the front joint. The front and rear hinges are lightly strained. Ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally firmly bound. Pages are bright with lightly spots to the first and last pages.
